Dental Implants
Your Implant Treatment Options
1) Single/Multiple Tooth Replacement
If you are missing one or several teeth, there is no more natural replacement option than a dental implant.
2) Full Arch Fixed Prosthesis
This option is for those who have no natural teeth and want a fixed option to replace their teeth, but do not want a removable denture.
3) Implants To Retain Loose-fitting Denture Or Partial Denture
If a patient has a denture but it doesn’t fit and/or function well, dental implants can be used to provide retention for an existing denture.
4) Implants With Bar For A Removable Denture
If a patient wants a denture that fits and functions at the top level possible but still wants the denture to be removable, an implant bar is a great option.
What to Expect with Dental Implant Treatment
Appointment 1 – Treatment Plan Development (time: 60 Minutes)
A careful examination of the patient’s entire mouth will be performed as well as an evaluation of the patient’s medical health and prescriptions. To ensure candidacy for dental implants, a CBCT (3D scan) will be taken. This x-ray is used to determine bone density, implant size, potential additional surgery needs, and is crucial for implant treatment planning. Our office does not place implants on a patient without a CBCT. Once the treatment plan has been presented and all questions by the patient have been answered, a surgery date can be scheduled. Preoperative medications and instructions will be given.
Appointment 2 – Surgery Date (time: approx. 2 Hours)
The doctor will perform your dental implant placement and any other procedures as outlined in the treatment plan. If the treated area is in your smile line, then the pre-determined temporary replacement will be given at this time.
Appointment 3 – Post-op Checkup (time: 15 Minutes)
Two weeks after surgery, you will return for a checkup to see how well the implant surgery site is healing. Any sutures will be removed, and the site will be thoroughly evaluated to ensure everything is healing well.
Appointment 4 – Digital Scan for Abutment and Crowns (time: 45 Minutes)
Three to four months after the implant placement, your implant will be ready to restore with the abutment and crowns. The healing cap will be removed, and a digital scan will be taken for the abutment, treatment crown, and final crown. The healing cap will be placed back on the implant and the custom abutment and crowns will be made in our office.
Appointment 5 – Delivery Of Abutment And Treatment Crown (45 Minutes)
The healing cap will be removed, and final abutment placed. Your treatment crown will be fitted and adjusted as needed. This acts as a grace period for your implant, as it has not been used for three to four months.
Appointment 6 – Final Implant Crown (45 Minutes)
After wearing your treatment crown for four weeks, your final implant crown will be seated. This is the last appointment in the implant process, except for regular professional cleanings with your dentist.
